How often does the Directors Collective meet?

Once a month, the Collective gathers in-person or online for a structured sharing session. Monthly gatherings may consist of refreshments or meals, opportunities for project proposals, short screenings, or brainstorm sessions. 

In addition, the Collective may hold events which are open to other industry guests or nonprofit partners. There are ample opportunities to meet informally within the Collective, and link up one-on-one with our Senior Leadership Team throughout the calendar year.

What role would I play in the Collective?

Every Director plays a unique role in the Collective. The success of this cohort relies on our diversity of backgrounds, skill sets, and networks. All Directors are expected to bring imaginative ideas and insights to the table, each and every time we gather.

We request that Directors commit to attending a minimum of eight sharing sessions per year; they are encouraged to use these gatherings as opportunities to raise big questions, gather feedback on current projects, and nurture collaborative relationships.

What resources would I have access to?

Directors have access to our go-to documentary camera and audio equipment at no charge.* In addition, the Collective has access to resources from This Machine Media, including social media marketing tools, music libraries, and distribution trackers. Above all, the knowledge bank created by our distinguished Directors, partners, and guests is our most-coveted resource.

How can I join the Directors Collective?

Please email Jacob@thismachinemedia.org to indicate your interest in the Collective. As a pilot program of This Machine Media, the Directors Collective will kick off the 2021 calendar year with a modestly-sized cohort, with rolling entry thereafter.
